Once our tryouts and selections are complete the U11 ATP group of up to 28 and our Seacoast ATP team of up to 14 will begin training in early August.
Fall:
While outdoor training takes place the top group of up to 28 will train on one field. Coaches will focus exclusively on technical training one day a week and smaller sided technical and tactical play during their second training day. Each day of training coaches may split the group into 2 smaller training groups to more easily manage coaching topics and more easily focus on each player’s individual needs. These groups will be created at coach’s discretion so players receive ample time with all teammates and coaches.
During NEP game-play teams will be split ‘evenly’.
The U11 Seacoast ATP team will train independently of the top ATP groups. Depending on roster space, players’ performance and coaches discretion Seacoast ATP players may be invited to either train with the top ATP groups or even join permanently based on their fit within the top ATP group(s).
Winter:
Due to the size of fields at our indoor arena, two training groups will be created each month. Each month new training groups will be created to ensure players remain familiar with all players involved with the ATP as well as both coaches.

Spring:
Once trainings move outside, sessions will return to the process used in fall training. Coaches will focus exclusively on technical training one day a week and then small sided technical and tactical training their second training day. Each day of training coaches may split the group into 2 smaller training groups to more easily manage coaching topics and more easily focus on each player’s individual needs. These groups will be created at coach’s discretion.
During NEP game-play, teams will be split into 1st and 2nd teams. These teams will be split based on specific criteria that ATP coaches feel are pertinent to their players’ development. As an example, criteria used by ATP coaches in the ’09-’10 season included professionalism at training, work rate, playing at speed, avoiding ‘ball-watching’, etc.
The philosophy behind creating 1st and 2nd teams is to give our players an introduction to being accountable for their approach and performance in training sessions. This will be true in older club level play, high school and college.
