On Friday, April 2nd at 5pm at the Outdoor Complex in Epping, NH, Seacoast United Soccer Club will begin its 3rd ever 24-hour Soccerthon and first in almost 10 years. SUSC players from Junior Academy to U18, as well as alumni, parents and adults who play in our recreation leagues, will play for a combined total of 24 hours, concluding at 5pm on Saturday, April 3rd.
Former players who participated in the Soccerthon played a role in helping establish the development of the Club’s indoor arena and expansion two years later. The goal for this year’s program is to help complete the purchase of a mini-van to be used in community service projects, support (NIKE)RED and the fight against AIDS in Africa, funds to help towards the completion of the Epping Pavilion, new light bulbs for the outdoor fields, repair the arena car park, and to begin work on establishing a Clubhouse in Epping (bathrooms, changing rooms, and social room). Our goal is to raise $100,000.
Format
The games will be 7-a-side and played at the Club’s Outdoor Complex in Epping. Each player will be assigned to a 10 person roster and will play in three 30-minute games over the course of a 3 hour period.
Over the course of 24 hours, there will be a total of at least 48 games played (we may have multiple games at the beginning and end with our younger players). Players will either represent the USA or England in honor of the World Cup game to be played on June 12th and the fact that the SUSC Staff is a mixture of American and English. A continuous score will be kept.
Fundraising & Pledge Sheet
Each player in the Club and any friends of the Club who wish to participate will be asked to seek pledges or donations per their participation in the event. All pledges will be based on 24 hours, hence if someone pledges $1 an hour, they would ultimately donate $24, or they can make a straight donation of any amount. All players will receive a pledge sheet or they can print one off from the Club’s website.
Award Levels
All players will receive a pair of (NIKE)RED laces to help fight AIDS in Africa. Please visit NIKEFOOTBALL.COM/RED for more details.
Please click here for $100, $250, and $500 award levels.
There will also be various raffle drawings during each 3-hour increment.
Paul Willis 24-Hour Goal
In addition to playing during the 2am-5am time slot, Paul is going to referee all 24-hours from 5pm on Friday through 5pm on Saturday. Paul is reaching out to local and national companies in terms of sponsorship. People will be able to pledge their support through the Club’s website.
